Eucomed press release 11/09 - Eucomed launches RSS feed and blog

Brussels, 5 June 2009 - Eucomed, the European Medical Technology Industry Association, today announced that it has launched an RSS feed (Really Simple Syndication) for its eucomed.org website. By incorporating RSS technology, the association wants to deliver news, press releases and announcements directly to visitors’ computers and mobile phones. This week also saw the public launch of the Eucomed blog. After a trial period of two months, the blog now has sufficient content for an official launch.

“In our constant efforts to improve communications, we are pleased to be able to offer visitors to our website multiple options for receiving our news. News about Eucomed and the medical technology industry at large is published on our homepage and in our newsletters, and now the RSS feed will allow us to push relevant news items to subscribers for them to read at their convenience,” says John Wilkinson, Chief Executive of Eucomed. “In a time where our stakeholders have ever less time to look for high-quality news and information about the medical technology industry, Eucomed wants the RSS feed to serve as an information hub for current, relevant information,” he continued. “By starting our own blog, we want to give not only our members but the wider public a more personal take on the events we attend, the news we pick up on or the developments we witness in our industry,” Mr Wilkinson concluded.

About RSS

Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is a convenient standard to stay up-to-date on regularly changing content on a website that a user chooses to subscribe to. Using this standard, webmasters provide headlines and fresh content in a succinct manner. Meanwhile, consumers use RSS readers and news aggregators to collect and monitor their favourite feeds in one centralised program or location.
